Simon Johns is a British musician. He is best known as the bassist for Stereolab.

History

Clear Spot

In 1998, Johns had formed the short-lived band, Clear Spot, with My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig. They released a 7" vinyl single Moonman Bop on Duophonic Records in 1998.[1]

Stereolab

Johns joined Stereolab as their bass player in 1999. As a one-time project, he formed Europa 51, with Stereolab members Mary Hansen, Andy Ramsay, and Dominic Jeffery. Their album, Abstractions, was released in 2003 on Duophonic.

Imitation Electric Piano

Johns is a founding member of Imitation Electric Piano. The band has released three albums on Duophonic between 1999 and 2006. The band has been on hiatus since Johns has relocated to Istanbul in 2007.[2]

He currently has a programme on Istanbul independent radio station Acik Radyo 94.9FM.[2]
